Simple and easy - take the hassle out of cricket touring
Customised and age/level-appropriate
Play hard, be respectful
With MCT, you don't have to worry about putting a team together - we do that. You can just come by yourself or with some friends or teammates. We can link you up with similar players from around the world to form a squad that matches your ability and experience. The MCT touring squads are selected based on age and ability to ensure that everyone is playing at the right level.

The tours are cricket-focused - with lots of matches, at top-quality facilities - but are also family-friendly.
They combine all the best elements of masters/veterans cricket - wonderful grounds, well-organised tours and activities, and hard-fought matches against local veterans cricketers - all at an affordable price.

We appreciate that not all masters cricketers are the same. Their stage of life, and work/family obligations will all differ, as will playing ability, fitness and level of competitiveness. That's why we go to great lengths to ensure that the grounds, the home teams, the standard of cricket, the rest-day activities and the cost are all appropriate to the players and their families.

You can join an existing tour and link up with players from around the world, or pick your own squad and we will do the rest - or a combination of the two.

Each tour will have a local tour leader, who will ensure that all your local arrangements are made, so you can focus on the cricket.

Tourists arrange their own flights, which means you can easily add on to the beginning or end of the tour in order to do extra sightseeing/travelling.

MCT's values are in line with those of International Masters Cricket (IMC): Play hard but fair, play with integrity, respect and humility, and take time to learn about and socialise with our opposition

MCT is not affiliated or connected with International Masters Cricket (IMC), but there are synergies between the two. Many MCT tourists will have also played in IMC events, and vice versa. MCT's director, Jim Morrison, is involved with IMC, but his role in MCT has been cleared by the IMC executive committee from a conflict-of-interest perspective.
FAQ
Q. What makes MCT different from every other cricket tour company?

A. MCT tours are designed specifically for masters/veterans cricketers. While most other mature-age cricket tour companies emphasise the social side and only provide a few light-hearted games with lots of off-days, we focus on providing hard-fought cricket matches against skillful, enthusiastic opposition. The social and touristic side of the tours are still important, but our primary aim is to provide a high standard of cricket on good facilities.

Q. What type of matches do we play?

A. This would depend on what the group wants. Local matches can be designed largely to the requirements of the teams involved. Generally, however, we would try to follow IMC playing conditions where possible, although some T20 matches might be arranged. The opposition will be selected based on the strength of the touring team. Home teams will be made up of masters/veterans players, although the minimum age may be adjusted to ensure that the home team provides stiff competition for the tourists.

Q. How much does one of these tours cost?

A. The cost depends on several factors: The location and length of the tour, the age group involved and the wishes of the tourists regarding what they want included. We save costs by using local partners for accommodation, transportation, uniforms, etc. Many costs are optional, so that those who wish to spend more can, while those on budgets are not forced to pay for "bells and whistles". We recognise that players in different age groups are at different stages of life and we calibrate tours to the needs of our tour members.

Q. Who can come on an MCT tour?

A. Players should ideally have competed in their country's national championships and/or be playing club cricket to a good standard. While there are no formal "selection criteria" or age verification for MCT tours, the intention is that all players will be capable of playing at or close to the top level of masters competition in their countries so that all players involved in the matches are evenly matched.

Q. Can wives, partners and kids come too?

A. Absolutely. MCT tours are cricket-focused but are also designed to be family-friendly for those who bring supporters with them. Partners and children will have plenty to do (especially if they like cricket, of course). There will be optional rest-day excursions and activities, and supporters will be welcomed as part of the group. However, family members should note that these tours are probably more cricket-heavy than other more social tours that they may have been on.

Q. What about umpires and scorers?

A. Umpires and scorers are very welcome! This is a great opportunity for them to have similar experiences to the players and feel fully involved in the action.

Q. Does it matter if I am from a different country than everyone else?

A. Not at all. One of the great features of MCT tours is that they bring together cricketers from different nations to play in the same team. Almost all cricket tours are nation-based, but MCT tours create a kind of "World XI" feeling.

Q. What kind of grounds do we play on?

A. We will make every effort to get the best possible grounds. In some countries, it is possible to access international/first-class grounds, but we can't always guarantee that. We will attempt to provide a range of facilities that showcase the host country.

Q. What is included and not included in the cost?

A. The tour cost includes accommodation, transportation to/from games, umpires, balls, ground rental and preparation, match-day teas/lunches, some meals (where indicated), uniforms.

Not included are flights to/from the destination country, insurance, airport transfers, other meals/drinks not indicated, rest-day activities.

Q. I'm not a great cricketer ... can I still go on the tour?

A. Yes. Our intention is to get players of similar skills and ages on the tours together. Because we have a large pool of players to choose from, we can find out about each player to make sure that he is placed in a team with people of similar ability. This will ensure that he gets opportunities to play at his level with and against appropriate players.

Q. Who actually runs MCT and the tours?

A. Masters Cricket Tours is operated by Jim Morrison, based in New Zealand. Jim has over 20 years of cricket touring experience, has been organising tours himself since 2015 and has been part of masters cricket internationally as an administrator since 2017. He established over-40s and over-50s cricket in New Zealand and has been on the executive committee of International Masters Cricket (IMC) since its inception. Jim works closely with partners in all of the touring countries and has toured them himself as a player.
